A woman crossing a busy intersection on Long Island was killed after she was hit by a car in an early morning crash.

It happened just after 7 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 25 in Hempstead, Nassau County Police said.

According to detectives, the female pedestrian, age 55, was crossing Peninsula Boulevard from east to west at the intersection of West Graham Avenue when she was struck by a 2018 Kia Stinger operated by a 25-year-old man.

The victim was transported to Mercy Hospital and pronounced dead at 7:37 a.m. by emergency room physicians.

The investigation is ongoing.
